🌱 👷♀️ 👷♂️ ♻️How Mexico’s waste pickers are getting decent, green jobs – Episode 3 Good Stories via @PioneersPost #Podcast
Last September 2024, as part of the Latimpacto Conference, Pioneers Post journalist David Lyons visited the San Lorenzo Cacaotepec municipality residues’ facility and met the recycling team formed by 26 women and men, who are currently one of the model experiences in Incusive Recycling municipal waste management, acknowledged locally and internationally.
During his visit, David talked with the recyclers and later at SiKanda’s office, met with our founder and General Director, Jose Carlos León Vargas. Published on December 19th, 2024, we now want to share it with you.
Our gratitude goes to Pioneers Post and Latimpacto for featuring this project and community in this podcast. Read more about the visit at PP webpage’s entry and listen to the episode on Spotify and other podcast platforms.

José Carlos León Vargas interviewed by David Lyons (Pioneers Post) in September 2024.
“It’s almost like a math formula. If you have that awareness of rights and respective rights, there’s always a condition that you will recycle more. Now for the recycling, SiKanda doesn’t know much. The recyclers know more than we do. So what we do is to help them increase their knowledge of hygiene and safety of work, communication and generate some leadership among them, and then they have better rates of recycling.”
